Inconvenient conditions in cities, such as failing to find parking spaces, not being able to locate public toilets and driving to a road under construction, have become pretty common nowadays.

Smart urban administration is gradually changing this situation. People are expected to solve these problems next year just by checking their mobile phones.

The city's urban administration committee set out to build a smart management platform last year, providing people with free public service resources.

The platform utilises modern information technologies including data exchange, overall GPS monitoring and overall video surveillance, and it is an updated version of the previous "digital urban administration platform."

The smartphone app, specially designed for the platform, provides information and services including administrative examination / approval, enquiries on illegal parking and searching for toilets / parking lots / urban facilities.

Besides making people's lives more convenient, the platform also facilitates the protection and maintenance of the city's infrastructure. For instance, the platform will monitor if streetlamps are still on when the lighting is adequate.

The city will surely become much smarter when the entire platform is completed. Smart surveillance of infrastructure including billboards, underground pipelines / cables, bridges and rivers and alerts that indicate various problems will make people's lives safer and more efficient. The platform is currently being tested and the official operation will be launched within three years.
