Philip P Purpura is the author of 'Security Loss and Prevention, An Introduction' and has been a security educator for more than 30 years. He has directed academic programmes in both criminal justice and security and serves as a consultant and expert witness. Past professional experience includes service as a police officer and as a corporate investigator.

Purpura is the author of six other books as well as numerous articles in magazines and journal. He holds both a bachelors degree and a masters degree in criminal justice. Currently he is serving on ASIS International's Council on Academic Programs.
