Dr Eng Lim Goh is senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) at SGI. Becoming a chief scientist in 1998 and CTO in 2001, Dr Goh’s tenure includes work in computer graphics, algorithms and high performance computing (HPC) architectures.

His current research interest is in the relationship between human visual perception and visual computing – he has been awarded three US patents in this field. He also leads a small research effort to investigate application-transparent, massively parallel rendering.

In 2005, the IDG publication, InfoWorld, named Dr Goh one of the world’s 25 most influential CTOs. Before joining SGI, he worked for Intergraph Systems, Schlumberger Wireline Netherlands and Shell Research UK.

A Shell Cambridge University scholar, he completed his PhD research and dissertation on parallel architectures and computer graphics. He also holds a first-class honours degree in mechanical engineering from Birmingham University, UK.
