City's cultural creation exhibition becomes highlight

The annual Taiwan International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo (TICCIE), which was first held in 2010, has become an important platform for cultural exchange across Taiwan Strait. The city's delegation attended the fourth TICCIE from November 21 to 24 as one of the most attended exhibition area during the expo.

On the day the TICCIE was put to an end, Hangzhou Exhibition Area won the "Best Display Award" and "Best Popularity Award" voted by professionals and visitors.

With the theme of "craftsmanship and design," the city's exhibition consists of stalls of 17 enterprises that present cultural creation products including Wangxingji Fan, Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors, West Lake silk umbrella, Zhu Bingren Bronze Sculpture, Fuyang bamboo paper, Wanshili Silk, Hangzhou stone sculpture, IW West Lake element design, Benlai Design and Yaba Gifts, which all feature the combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern designs.

During the four-day exhibition, the city's stalls attracted a total of over 100,000 person-times of visitors; total transaction amount, including those that have been preliminarily been agreed, stood at CNY 14 million; all of the product on display were snapped up; over 60 Taiwanese companies signed MoUs with the enterprises that set up stalls; a bronze sculpture work by Mr. Zhu Bingren was collected by local art center; Wangxingji Fan signed cooperation agreements with Taipei Palace Museum and Artilize Worldwide.

Sending delegation to the TICCIE is an important step of the city to build the cross-strait cultural creation industry cooperation experiment zone. General Chamber of Commerce of Taiwan invited Zhejiang as a main guest of honor to the expo this year, and Lui Zushan, vice chairman of the NPC Financial and Economic Committee and head of the Cultural Creation Industry Promotion Department of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneur Summit, lead the delegation. Being the leader in the province's cultural creation industry, Hangzhou is entrusted to arrange the main exhibition area.

Weng Weijun, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Hangzhou Committee, director of the Department of Publicity and director of the Municipal Cultural Creation Committee, is charge of the exhibition arrangement. Leaders including Xiang Zhaolun, vice Minister of Culture of China, paid visits to the main exhibition area and gave their advice.

Political leaders of Taiwan including Wu Den-yih and Lung Ying-tai as well as leaders of the General Chamber of Commerce of Taiwan and Taiwan Design Center and famous people in the industry also paid visit and spoke highly of the city's exhibition, complimenting it as impressive and THE highlight of the expo. "Hangzhou is the leading city in China's cultural creation industry and the exhibition best explains the theme of the expo and embodies the same culture origin of Taiwan and mainland China, which promises huge potential for the two sides' cooperation," said Long Yingtai, head of Taiwan's cultural authorities.

The city's delegation also visited the cultural creation organizations in Yilan County and Hualian County, and held talks with Taiwan's Center for Traditional Arts, Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park, Jean Cultural & Creative Co., Ltd., Hanshengxiang Gifts and Chullery Arts Co., Ltd. to seek cooperation.
