Voice Commerce, an innovative financial services group, has announced the opening of its UK VoiceTransact Trust Centre™, a platform using Nuance voice authentication technology, which authenticates and verifies any type of commercial transaction that a UK business requires to complete with its customers. Using voice signatures, which are enabled over mobile phone, the UK Trust centre marks a significant advance toward easy, cost-effective adoption of voice signatures by any size or type of business within the UK.

The VoiceTransact Trust Centre stores voice signatures that enable an individual's identity to be validated and authenticated in real-time, anywhere, using any type of mobile device. These complex voice signatures combine an individual's voice biometrics with their transactional history, trends and location patterns to create a highly secure authorisation environment.

Nick Ogden, CEO of the Voice Commerce Group says: "The development and opening of our UK Trust centre is timely as identity security becomes ever more important. With identity theft up 20% in 2009* businesses are urgently looking for convenient and safer ways to authorise, verify and protect their customers."

Ogden went on to say: "The opening of the UK VoiceTransact Trust centre to all UK businesses is a significant step as we start to roll out a number of trust centres across the globe through our existing 51 country network. The trust centre will provide businesses with the capability to offer authentication and verification services across a wide spectrum of sectors, including healthcare, aviation and financial services, which has historically been a significant challenge for businesses."

The VoiceTransact Trust Centre not only allows consumers to sign for any mobile based transaction that they may undertake, it also enables secure payments, either for e-commerce or as a mobile payment, with automatic no cost anti-fraud guarantees against each transaction.

"Over the coming year we expect to see the use of our guaranteed voice signatures become commonplace in financial services replacing passwords and PINs. Since we already all use our voice as the natural way to authenticate oneself, voice signatures are inherent for consumers to use and it means an end to having to remember multiple pins and passwords," continued Ogden.

Voice Commerce Group became a Nuance partner in 2008 and has since developed and enhanced the voice biometric technology to a point where a simple interface is all that is required for any business to authenticate voice signatures for any purpose. The two companies are now working to support the global roll out of the VoiceTransact Trust centre network.

Ian Turner, managing director, Northern Europe at Nuance Communications says: "With our expertise in securing mobile phone-based transactions worldwide and Voice Commerce's payments processing capabilities, the two companies are wholly aligned to bring biometric voice signatures easily and quickly into the mainstream global marketplace.

"We believe the extension of the VoiceTransact Trust centre, to support any type of businesses that requires identity verification or payment processing capabilities, gives businesses the opportunity to participate in both the exciting mobile payment services arena as well as transactional authentication. The combination of a regulated financial services business and a secure voice biometric system means it is possible to deliver the peace of mind that both businesses and consumers are demanding in the face of growing identity theft and fraud."
