Naresh Goyal

Naresh Goyal, founder chairman of Jet Airways, has worked his way up through the airline business. After qualifying in commerce in 1967, he joined Lebanese International Airlines as a sales agent in 1969. He later became a regional manager for the Jordanian national carrier ALIA, worked in the Indian office of Middle Eastern Airlines (MEA) and was Indian regional manager for Philippine Airlines.

In May 1974, he founded Jetair (Private) Limited to provide sales and marketing to foreign airlines in India.

In 1991, as part of the ongoing diversification programme of his business activities, he took advantage of the opening of the Indian economy and the Indian Government's decision to enter the Open Skies Policy to set up Jet Airways, operating scheduled air services on domestic routes in India. Jet Airways commenced commercial operations on 5 May 1993.
